How to explain HVAC financing to customers

Financing questions usually come right after the price, when the homeowner is deciding whether the job is possible at all. A clear, honest explanation of your programs, including what happens if a promo balance isn’t paid off in time, builds more trust than a low monthly number on its own. This prompt drafts it from your lender’s terms.

What to get right

  • Explain deferred interest if it applies. If the promo balance isn’t paid in full by the end of the promo period, interest is charged back to the purchase date. Say it before they sign.
  • Show two programs, not five. A short promo and a longer low-payment option are usually enough to compare.
  • Use the lender’s numbers. Payments, rates and terms come from the lender’s current materials. Don’t round them.
  • Say how applying works. How long it takes, and whether it’s a soft or hard credit check.

Questions shops ask

What is deferred interest on HVAC financing?

A promo where no interest is charged if the full balance is paid before the promo ends. If it isn’t, interest from the original purchase date is added. That’s different from a true 0% APR loan, where no interest builds up during the promo.

Should my shop offer financing?

Many residential shops do, through a lender partner. Whether it makes sense depends on your average ticket and the lender’s fees, which come out of your margin.

Should techs talk about financing?

They can say it exists. Specific rates and terms are best left to whoever is trained on the lender’s program, so nothing gets misquoted.
